The contract is valued at approximately KRW 45 billion. The project is designed to provide a stable, large-scale power supply to an AIDC currently under construction in Australia. Under the contract, Taihan will build a 330 kV-class extra-high-voltage cable system on a turnkey basis. An AIDC is a large-scale facility that operates around the clock without interruption, making it essential to establish a power grid capable of reliably supporting high electricity consumption. As the stability and reliability of power supply directly affect service operations, such projects require not only proven quality and reliability in extra-high-voltage cables, but also advanced technical expertise and project execution capabilities across grid design, engineering, construction, and site management. Drawing on its accumulated expertise in extra-high-voltage cables and extensive global project experience, Taihan was selected as the qualified contractor after competing with leading global companies. Taihan has built a strong track record and competitiveness in Oceania by carrying out multiple projects across Australia and New Zealand. In Australia, the company successfully completed a 500 kV-class project, the highest-voltage underground cable project commercialized in the country, as well as the “Powering Sydney’s Future” project, a landmark 330 kV cable system project designed to expand Sydney’s power grid. Taihan has also completed a range of other projects in Oceania, including 275 kV and 132 kV projects in Australia and a 220 kV project in New Zealand. This contract is significant as it demonstrates recognition of Taihan’s technological capabilities and project execution expertise in the rapidly growing AIDC power infrastructure market. As the expansion of AI and cloud services drives increasing demand for large-scale data processing and storage, investment in AIDCs is accelerating worldwide. Accordingly, infrastructure investment to ensure stable power supply is expected to increase, creating further business opportunities for Taihan in this sector. A Taihan official said, “As AIDCs require a highly stable power supply, they demand advanced technical capabilities and extensive project execution experience. Building on this contract, we will further strengthen our efforts to target high-value-added power infrastructure markets, including global AIDC projects.”

It aims to develop industry-specific AI agent technologies capable of resolving real-world industrial challenges and deploy them to manufacturing sites to enhance industrial competitiveness. The project duration spans from this year through December 2028. taihan is participating in the project as part of a consortium formed with smart factory solution specialists. Leveraging its extensive process operation expertise and production data accumulated from EHV cable manufacturing sites, the taihan consortium will drive AI-based production innovation and validate the application of these technologies in actual production lines. Through this initiative, taihan plans to analyze production and quality data in real time to improve process operational efficiency. By predicting and optimizing key variables in the manufacturing process, the company aims to simultaneously enhance productivity and quality stability, thereby continuously strengthening overall manufacturing competitiveness. Recently, taihan has been bolstering its production capacity and technological competitiveness, focusing on core power infrastructure sectors such as EHV cables, submarine cables, and High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) systems. Through this project, taihan intends to accelerate the establishment of an AI-based production system, enhance operational efficiency and quality competitiveness, and further strengthen its capabilities to address the future power grid market. Based on these advancements, the company will solidify its foundation to support critical national power grid projects, including the government-led "West Coast Energy Highway." An official from taihan stated, "Being selected for this national R&D project provides a solid foundation for us to integrate AI technology into cable manufacturing processes, further elevating our productivity and quality competitiveness. We will continue to expand AI-driven production innovations to enhance our competitiveness in core power infrastructure sectors, such as submarine cables and HVDC, and continuously advance our capabilities to reliably support major national power grid initiatives."

Taihan is carrying out an EHV power grid project in Singapore.    Taihan Secures KRW 140 Billion EHV Power Grid Project in Singapore- To supply 400kV and 230kV oil-filled (O.F.) EHV cable systems- Secured approximately KRW 1 trillion in cumulative project awards in Singapore over the past two years, maintaining the No. 1 market share position in the 400kV-and-above EHV market- Rising power infrastructure demand driven by AI data center expansion; expected to strengthen Korea’s export competitiveness Taihan has once again demonstrated its technological leadership by securing a major extra-high-voltage (EHV) power grid project in Singapore. Taihan announced on June 8 through a regulatory filing that it will supply 400kV and 230kV oil-filled (O.F.) EHV cable systems to SP PowerAssets Limited (SPPA), Singapore’s national power grid operator. The contract is valued at approximately KRW 140 billion. Under the project, Taihan will supply both 400kV and 230kV EHV cable systems. The 400kV class represents the highest transmission voltage currently operated in Singapore, and qualification for such projects requires technical capabilities and project references comparable to those required for 500kV-class systems. Leveraging its experience as the first company in Korea to develop a 500kV transmission system and successfully supply it to markets including the United States, Taihan currently maintains the No. 1 market share position in Singapore’s 400kV-and-above EHV cable market. Including this latest award, Taihan has secured approximately KRW 1 trillion in cumulative project awards in Singapore over the past two years, further strengthening its position as a key strategic partner in the country’s power grid market. Demand for power infrastructure in Singapore is expected to continue growing, driven by the expansion of AI data centers (AIDCs), power grid modernization initiatives, and renewable energy integration projects. The O.F. cable awarded under this project utilizes insulating oil within the cable to ensure dielectric performance. Due to its highly complex manufacturing process and stringent maintenance requirements, only a limited number of global manufacturers possess the capability to produce such systems. Taihan pioneered Korea’s EHV cable market by becoming the first domestic company to develop and commercialize O.F. EHV cables. In addition, the company has established advanced technological capabilities across multiple insulation technologies, including XLPE (cross-linked polyethylene) systems. Building on this technological expertise, Taihan plans to actively expand its presence in overseas markets by addressing growing global demand arising from increased investment in power grid infrastructure. The company also aims to contribute to strengthening the global competitiveness of Korea’s cable exports. A Taihan representative stated, “This award underscores Taihan’s established position as a key player in Singapore’s power grid market. We will continue to strengthen our technological leadership not only in EHV cable systems but also in HVDC and submarine cable solutions, accelerating our expansion into high-value-added markets.” 

Photo) Rendering of Taihan Vina’s Extra-High Voltage (EHV) Cable PlantTaihan Cable's Subsidiary 'Taihan Vina' to Construct Vietnam’s First 400kV EHV Cable Plant- Construction of Vietnam’s first 400kV extra-high voltage (EHV) cable plant, with operations scheduled for 2027- Taihan’s first overseas EHV production base, reinforcing global competitiveness- Accelerating expansion into Vietnam’s domestic market and major overseas markets, including Europe, the Americas, and OceaniaTaihan is strengthening its global competitiveness through the expansion of its overseas production infrastructure. On August 13, the company announced that its subsidiary of Taihan, Taihan Cable Vina, will build a 400kV-class extra-high voltage (EHV) cable manufacturing plant — the first of its kind in Vietnam — as part of a strategic initiative to enhance global bidding capabilities through an advanced local production system. The new plant will occupy approximately 56,200㎡ (604,931 ft²) within the Long Thanh Industrial Zone in Dong Nai Province, southern Vietnam, adjacent to Taihan Vina’s existing plant. Construction is scheduled to commence in the first half of 2026, with operations to begin in 2027. Upon completion, Taihan Vina will stand as Vietnam’s sole manufacturer of 400kV-class EHV cables. Through this investment, Taihan Vina aims to meet rapidly increasing domestic demand for EHV cables in Vietnam — where electricity demand is projected to grow by 10–12% annually through 2030 — and to accelerate entry into major overseas markets, including Europe, the Americas, and Oceania. Continuous capacity expansion and technological innovation will establish the plant as a second global production hub, complementing Taihan’s flagship Dangjin Cable Plant in Korea. A Taihan spokesperson stated, “Vietnam’s strong industrial environment, infrastructure, and strategic geographic location provide a solid foundation for Taihan Vina to become a leading global supplier in the EHV cable sector. With this investment, Taihan Vina will help modernize Vietnam’s power grid and strengthen its presence from Asia to the world.” Established in 2005 and headquartered in Ho Chi Minh City, Taihan Cable Vina is a comprehensive wire and cable manufacturer comprising a workforce of approximately 300 employees. Its product portfolio includes high-, medium-, and low-voltage power cables, as well as overhead conductors. In 2024, the company recorded sales of KRW 140.3 billion, a year-on-year increase of about 20%, driven by ongoing facility expansion and technology investments.  

Taihansuccessfullyoperated the booth at IEEE PES T&D​At the IEEE PES T&D, held from May 6 to 9, in Anaheim, California, USA, Taihan operated a 900-square-foot booth that showcased their various strategic products into themes such as ▲ The Aging Power Grid Replacement Solutions, ▲ Offshore Wind Power Solutions, ▲ High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) Systems, ▲ Communication Cable Solutions, etc. and introduced over 30 different products. Taihan placed the aging power grid replacement solutions that attracted a lot of attention at the front of their booth. In the Offshore Wind Power Solutions section, they introduced a variety of submarine cables and cable-laying vessels (CLVs) supplied to domestic and international projects, along with disclosing the investment and production plans of their submarine cable plant in stages.​ 

International Certification for EHV Submarine CableTaihan Cable & Solution has completed the development of a 154kV EHV submarine cable system and obtained KEMA international certification. KEMA is an accredited testing organization based in the Netherlands, highly regarded internationally in the field of electrical safety. The 154kV class submarine cables are primarily used for connecting offshore wind farms to the mainland through export cables, and for interconnections between lands and continents.   Taihan plans to produce the 154kV at its submarine cable plant 1 at Godae Pier in Dangjin City,which will be completed in 2025. Having developed and secured certification for this cable, Taihan is now positioned to bid on various submarine cable projects both domestically and internationally.​ 

Taihan had won a project for a 500kV EHV power project in EgyptTaihan Cable & Solution announced on February 22nd that it had won a project for a 500kV EHV power project ordered by the Electric Power Systems Engineering Company, a joint venture of the Egyptian government. This project involves linking an existing substation and a new HVDC converter station in the Badr region, located in the northeast of Egypt, with underground power cables. Taihan will supply 500kV HVAC cables and oversee the project management. With this order, Taihan has made its first entry into the Egyptian EHV market. 500kV is the highest voltage used in Egypt. Taihan succeeded in pioneering the market, breaking through the competition not only with local companies but also with leading global companies.  

Taihan has secured a contract for a 380kV EHV power network project from Germany's TenneTTaihan Cable & Solution has secured a contract for a 380kV Extra High Voltage (EHV) power network project from Germany's TenneT, valued at 60 billion won.  This project involves the construction of 380kV underground cables in Germany to expand the transmission network necessary for environmentally friendly wind power generation. Taihan will supply all materials including EHV cables and cable accessories, and will handle everything from power network design to cable laying, connection, and testing. Last year, Taihan had successfully won two projects in Germany worth a total of 70 billion won, marking its entry into the German high-voltage market. With this latest large-scale project, Taihan has further reinforced its competitiveness in the German market.  

Taihan Secures $65 Million Power Grid Project in KuwaitTaihan has reaffirmed its competitive edge in the Middle East market by securing a major project in Kuwait. The contract for the EHV Power Grid Turnkey Project, commissioned by the Kuwait MEW(Ministry of Electricity and Water & Renewable Energy), was awarded to the company for $65 million. This significant undertaking involves the construction of an underground power grid connecting existing substations in Kuwait City, the country's capital. The project aims to respond to the city’s increased power demand as smoothly as possible. It will be carried out in a turnkey manner, with Taihan responsible for all phases, including the supply of 300kV grade EHV cables and accessories, power grid design, installation, connection, and testing. Relying on its long-accumulated Middle Eastern network and technical prowess, Taihan is committed to securing more contracts in the future.

Construction for the extra-high-voltage cable factory in Saudi ArabiaTaihan appears ready to step up its local investment plan in Saudi Arabia. On the 15th, the company signed a new contract at Hoban Park Building #2 (Umyeon-dong, Seocho-gu) on creating a joint venture (JV) tasked with building an extra-high voltage cable production plant in Saudi Arabia. Taihan’s joint investor for the project is the Mohammed Al-Ojaimi Group, an EPC specializing in the transmission and distribution of electricity across Saudi Arabia. Taihan is set to invest 51% of the USD 80 million in total investments (approx. KRW 100 billion) for this new project. The factory will be built on a site stretching across 70,000m2 in a high-tech industrial complex located in Riyadh, the nation’s capital. Once the factory is complete, Taihan will begin the local production of extra-high-voltage cables and power equipment required in extra-high-voltage power grids, and this, in turn, will have a positive impact in helping the company secure the technology and competitive pricing it needs to grow its business in the Middle East, Europe, and Africa.
