Taihan hired new employees and held an induction ceremonyOn the 15th, Taihan Cable & Solution hired new employees for 2024 and held an induction ceremony at the Hoban Park 2. The ceremony was attended by key executives of Hoban Group, including Kim Sun-kyu, Chairman of Hoban Group, Song Jong-min, Vice Chairman of Taihan, and Kim Dae-heon, President of Planning, as well as heads of business divisions and executives of Taihan. The ceremony consisted of a new employee oath, a badge presentation, encouraging words from the management, and commemorative photos. New employees will take part in a two-week orientation program. Various programs will be conducted to enhance their understanding of the company and internalize the company's core values.

NEWS PRAnnounced record-breaking first-half results
Taihan Cable & Solution announced record-breaking first-half results. The company reported KRW 1,458.3 billion in revenue and KRW 41.7 billion in operating profit. Its net income of KRW 22.1 billion is a nearly 15-fold increase from the previous year's KRW 1.4 billion. In particular, the first-half operating profit is the highest in 20 years, dating back to 2003, and surpassed the 40 billion won milestone for the first time since 2004. It has already reached more than 80% of last year's annual operating profit of KRW 48.2 billion in the first half of the year alone. The rise in earnings is expected to persist as the cable industry tends to perform better in the second half of the year.

Taihan Launches 'Blood Donation Campaign for Love'Taihan's executives and employees are joining forces in blood donation activities for the noble cause of sharing life. The 'Blood Donation Campaign for Love' commenced on June 20th at Taihan's Dangjin plant and Dangjin Cable Accessory plant. It was conducted until June 23rd at Hoban Park in Seocho-dong, Seoul, the location of several affiliated companies, including Hoban Construction, Hoban Industries, and Taihan. Approximately 200 executives and staff members from Taihan participated in the event. In total, 300 blood donation certificates, including those received through additional donations, were collected by Taihan, and then handed over to the 'Pediatric Cancer NGO Hanbit', an organization dedicated to supporting children with cancer. Since 2013, Taihan has been consistently carrying out the Blood Donation Campaign for Love, and since last year, it has expanded its initiative to include the entire company. Taihan is committed to continuing its sharing activities, ensuring the delivery of love to all marginalized members of society.

Song Jong-min Assumes Office as the New CEO of Taihan Cable & Solution Co., Ltd., Promising to Achieve Sustainable Growth Song Jong-min, Vice Chairman of Hoban E&C Co., Ltd., has taken up a new role as CEO of Taihan Cable & Solution Co., Ltd., laying the groundwork for the company's future. In March 2023, Taihan designated Song Jong-min, then Vice Chairman, as a prospective CEO. Following an extraordinary general meeting and a meeting with the board of directors on 17th May, 2023, his appointment was officially confirmed. Song Jong-min joined Hoban Construction Co., Ltd. in 2000, and has since then acquired substantial expertise in finance, accounting, and management by undertaking a variety of roles within the group. He was appointed as the CEO and President of Hoban Construction Co., Ltd. in 2018, where he contributed significantly to the company's growth and business diversification. In 2022, he was promoted to Vice Chairman and CEO of Hoban E&C Co., Ltd., the parent company of Taihan Cable & Solution Co., Ltd., and oversaw the integration process after the acquisition of Taihan Cable & Solution Co., Ltd. During his inaugural speech, Song Jong-min expressed his commitment to succeed, stating, "I will provide full support and reinforce investment to encourage quality improvements and technical developments. I am committed to exploring new growth drivers and business opportunities to achieve sustainable growth."

Taihan meets with the Minister of Investment of Saudi Arabia to discuss the local business promotionOn the Nov. 13th, 2022, Taihan announced that it had met with Saudi Arabia's Minister of Investment Khalid A. AlFalih, who was visiting Korea, in the afternoon of the Nov. 11th, 2022 to discuss plans for investment and business expansion, etc. in Saudi Arabia. Related persons of both sides, such as Minister Alfalih, CEO of Saudi Electricity Project Development Co. Mahdi N. AlDosary, Director of Korea Office of the Ministry of Investment of Saudi Arabia Hesham AlMasaud, Hoban Group Chairman Kim Seon-kyu, President of Taihan, Na Hyung-gyun and Vice President of Taihan Kim Yun-soo, and Hoban E&C Executive Director Kim Min-seong, attended the meeting. The two sides exchanged opinions on mid- to long-term business expansion plans in Saudi Arabia, including the Saudi extra-high-voltage cable production corporation that Taihan is promoting. Earlier, on the Oct. 26th, 2022, after the two sides signed an investment agreement for a Saudi extra-high voltage cable production corporation at the ‘Future Investment Initiative (FII) Forum’ hosted by the Ministry of Investment of Saudi Arabia in Riyadh, they had a meeting to discuss the business in detail.

About 10 key officials including South African Ambassador to Korea Zenani N. Dlamini, Economic Counselor of the South African Embassy in Korea Seema Sardha, Chairman of Hoban Group Kim Seon-kyu, President of Taihan Na Hyung-gyun, and Executive Director of Hoban E&C Kim Min-seong attended the meeting. The meeting lasted about an hour and a half, and the main contents of the meeting were the facility investment plan of M-TEC, the South African production corporation of Taihan, and the opportunities and plans, etc. for Hoban Group's business expansion through it.

About 20 key officials including Ahmad A. Al-Sa'adi, Senior Vice President of Aramco, Mutib A. Al-Harbi, CEO of Aramco Korea, Bandar F. Al-Otabi, Procurement Representative, Hoban Group Chairman Kim Seon-gyu, Hoban E&C Vice Chairman Song Jong-min, and Taihan President Na Hyung-gyun attended the meeting. Through this discussion, the two companies agreed to strengthen their business partnership. Taihan requested extensive support for the construction of a Saudi extra-high-voltage cable production plant, which is being promoted by Taihan, and Aramco expressed appreciation for Taihan's interest and investment in Saudi Arabia and said that it will actively cooperate on business development plans of the two companies.

Taihan and Hoban Construction create a “Second Venture Investment Association”Taihan formed another venture investment association with Hoban Construction to help discover and incubate innovative technology startups, and also to strengthen their investment. “Plan H,” an accelerator under the Hoban Group, will take the lead in managing this venture investment association. By participating in this venture investment association, Taihan plans to discover and invest in startups related to new and renewable energy and the environment in line with its “Green 2030” initiative, the company’s mid- to long-term environmental management strategy. Going forward, the company will continue to discover and invest in promising startups in the new renewable energy and ESG fields, and at the same time create synergy by working closely with Hoban Construction across a variety of fields.

Full-scale start-up of optical cable businessAfter being acquired by Hoban Group, Taihan chose the optical cable business as its first investment. To enable mass production within the first half of next year, Taihan plans to build optical cable production plants in Dangjin, Chungcheongnam-do, Korea, and Kuwait, and place an order for facilities. Taihan Kuwait, Kuwait's only optical cable production corporation, is also speeding up the construction of facilities. The plant site is already secured in Kuwait City's Mina Abdullah Industrial Complex, and Taihan plans to start plant construction and rapidly order facilities within the third quarter in order to release prototypes in the first half of next year.
