Construction of Solar Power Generation Facilities at Dangjin plantTaihan has set up independent solar generation facilities at the Dangjin plant. As part of the carbon-neutral roadmap to combat the climate crisis, the company has taken significant steps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and enhance energy efficiency. Taihan has installed solar power facilities covering 10,000 square meters of roof space across two buildings at the Dangjin Plant. These facilities are expected to generate 1,400 MWh of electricity annually, which will power both the plant and its production operations. The project is expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 630 tCO2eq annually, which equates to the environmental impact of planting around 4,300 pine trees. Taihan plans to continuously expand solar power generation facilities to increase the proportion of renewable energy use. The company is also evaluating the adoption of solar power facilities at its submarine cable plant 1, which is scheduled to finish construction by 2025.

Establishing Carbon Neutrality RoadmapTaihan Cable & Solution has established a detailed carbon neutrality roadmap to achieve Net Zero by 2050. The greenhouse gas reduction targets are set according to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) standards. SBTi is a global initiative that validates corporate carbon emission reduction targets based on scientific evidence. Taihan plans to submit its reduction targets and implementation plans within the first half of this year, aiming to be the first in the domestic cable industry to receive approval from SBTi. According to its roadmap, Taihan plans to reduce the total amount of carbon emissions, both direct and indirect, from all its operations, both domestic and international, by 46% by 2031. In addition, the company aims to reduce carbon emissions from its entire value chain, including overseas subsidiaries, partners, and transportation, by more than 30% by 2031. The ultimate goal is to achieve Net Zero by 2050, meaning all carbon emissions from product manufacturing and business activities will be reduced to zero.

Taihan has won an integrated A grade in the 2023 ESG EvaluationTaihan announced on the 27th October that it has won an "Integrated A grade" in the "2023 ESG Evaluation" conducted by the Korea Corporate Governance Service (KCGS). It is the third consecutive year that it has earned an A rating since it was the only one in Korean cable industry to receive an integrated A rating in 2021. In this year's evaluation, Taihan received a grade of Environmental(E) A, Social(S) A+, and Governance(G) B+. In particular, the environmental sector has earned an A grade, a step up from last year's B+ rating. This is the result of reducing waste generation compared to the previous year, increasing the rate of eco-friendly purchases, and transparently disclosing key information.

Hoban Group's volunteer team, 'Hoban Sarangnanumi,' conducted its 14th annual kimchi-making service at the Heymyung Childcare Center on November 4th. The event brought together around 60 participants, including employees from Taihan. Despite the chilly weather, they prepared delicious kimchi with the children in mind.

Improving Residential Environments for Local ResidentsThe Taihan Nuri Volunteer Group, comprised of executives and employees from Taihan, has collaborated with the Bisan General Social Welfare Center in Anyang City to improve the residential environment. Taihan has improved living conditions by thoroughly cleaning houses that have been left unattended, and disposing of old, difficult-to-use items and products. Since 2014, Taihan has formed a bond with the Bisan General Social Welfare Center in Anyang City and has been providing support for elderly people living alone and children from low-income families. Notably, Taihan maintained its active support for vulnerable communities even during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, never relinquishing its sponsorship responsibilities. Taihan Launches 'Blood Donation Campaign for Love'Taihan's executives and employees are joining forces in blood donation activities for the noble cause of sharing life. The 'Blood Donation Campaign for Love' commenced on June 20th at Taihan's Dangjin plant and Dangjin Cable Accessory plant. It was conducted until June 23rd at Hoban Park in Seocho-dong, Seoul, the location of several affiliated companies, including Hoban Construction, Hoban Industries, and Taihan. Approximately 200 executives and staff members from Taihan participated in the event. In total, 300 blood donation certificates, including those received through additional donations, were collected by Taihan, and then handed over to the 'Pediatric Cancer NGO Hanbit', an organization dedicated to supporting children with cancer. Since 2013, Taihan has been consistently carrying out the Blood Donation Campaign for Love, and since last year, it has expanded its initiative to include the entire company. Taihan is committed to continuing its sharing activities, ensuring the delivery of love to all marginalized members of society.

Conservation Activities for Endangered Species in Dangjin City for Biodiversity ProtectionThe Hoban Group's employee volunteer group, “Hoban Sarangnanumi,” made a donation of 10 million KRW to Dangjin City. This donation, collected from voluntary employee contributions, will be allocated towards the conservation of endangered species and the rescue of wildlife in Dangjin City, with the aim of protecting biodiversity. As a part of these initiatives, on December 20, 2022, Taihan employees participated in a feeding activity for endangered species, including the Korean water deer, in the vicinity of the Sapgyoho Lake Wildlife Protection Area in Dangjin City. Taihan will continue to be involved in various environmental conservation activities, working towards a sustainable future.
