Signs a memorandum of understanding with KEPCO to revitalize offshore wind power industryOn April 15, KEPCO signed a memorandum of understanding with 44 domestic offshore wind power companies for mutual cooperation on an offshore wind power project at the KEPCO Art Center in Seocho-gu, Seoul. At the signing ceremony, President Nah Hyeong-gyun said, "Taihan will do its best to enhance its technological competitiveness through in-depth technology development and aggressive investment," as a representative of the participating companies. He added, “We will contribute to opening a new frontier in offshore wind power industry by cooperating with relevant organizations and industries.”

Taihan wins 'Quality Award' from PG&E for its outstanding quality performance - Selected as the best quality company among the 5,000 suppliers of PG&E- First Korean company to win the award, surpassing global cable companies Taihan was selected as a “Outstanding quality performance company” by one of the leading U.S. utilites and it reaffirmed its competitiveness in the market. Taihan Electric Wire Co., Ltd.(Hyung-kyun Na, CEO) announced on the 5th that it won the "2020 Outstanding Quality Performance Award" from the Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) in the U.S. PG&E, established in 1905, is one of the largest utilities in the state, providing electricity and gas to 5.5 million households and more than 16 million people in central and northern California, mainly in San Francisco. This award was presented to three of the 5,000 global companies that supply products and services to PG&E, and Taihan is the only cable manufacture among them. Taihan not only beat major cable companies around the world including, but was recognized for its unique competitiveness and service in the North American market by winning the award for the first time as a Korean company. The awards ceremony was held online at 2:30 p.m. on the 4th local time in the U.S., attended by executives of PG&E along with award-winning companies. President Hyung-kyun Na, who participated in the award ceremony, said, "It is very meaningful to be selected as a high-quality company after 2 year’s supply to PG&E despite of a covid19 pandemic situation. This accomplishment was made because of all Taihan member’s effort to supply products in a timely manner and constantly stive to provide viable solutions to PG&E." He also added "We will continue to expand our competitiveness in the North American market through our stringent quality management, in-dpeth research, technical development, and customer-oriented services." Taihan established its strong position as a cable supplier in the North Amercian market. It has a sales corporation in the U.S with its branch in the West and East repesctively. In 2019, Taihan won more than 270million dollars orders, marking the largest-ever record since the entrance in the U.S market.

Taihan was selected as ‘the Top Quality Power Manufacturer’ by KEPCOTaihan announced on November 11 that it was selected as ‘the Top Quality Power Manufacturer of the Year’ at the ‘2019 BIXPO Awards’ hosted by KEPCO in Gwangju on November 8. The selected items were underground cables for distribution, and received high scores for quality excellence and management ability. 'the Top Quality Power Manufacturer’ is to select, award, and incentivize companies that have excellent quality and management performance of KEPCO's power equipment, and has been implemented every year since 2014. This year, the evaluation was conducted on 661 companies that supplied a total of 89 items and went through three stages of verification. The final 10 companies were selected, and Taihan is the only cable manufacturer. In addition to quality evaluation factors such as defect rate, failure rate, the screening was difficult for the contribution of electricity quality and violation of fair trade. Through this selection, Taihan will benefit from the ease of inspection tests when supplying equipment to KEPCO in the future. Mr. Na Hyoung-kyun, CEO of Taihan, who attended the event, said, “We are pleased to be recognized for the highest level of quality competitiveness, and will contribute to the stabilization of the power grid through continuous quality control of not only EHV, HV transmission cables but also MV, LV distribution cables." In addition, “As we continue to supply distribution cables to high-tech plants that produce semiconductors and displays like Samsung Electronics, we will expand our presence in related domestic and overseas markets.”

TAIHAN achieved the high tension Cable Project with an extension of 60.7km Awarded in 3 areas within the United States, including Los Angeles this year, execution in the U.S market has strong Additional orders expected due to the rise of the electric cable market pushed by the economic recovery of the United States TAIHAN is entered the United States with the award of the Extra high-voltage projects in three areas of the United States, including Los Angeles, with a total length of 60.7 km. The Extra high voltage projects that Taihan as achieved this year in the United States are three projects like the 275 kV Project with an extension of 58.5 km awarded by the LA Department of Water and Power (LADWP), the 230 kV Project with an extension of 17 km related to the construction of electrical substation in eastern New Jersey and the 230 kV Project with an extension of 5km of the power company San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) in California. Among them, the Project of the Department of Hydraulic and Electric Power LA, awarded on the 16th, is supply of Extra high voltage cables with insulated wires, and the largest dimension of the projects made with cables insulated wires in United States. The cable with insulated wires, unlike normal Extra high voltage cable using pure copper as the conductor, is manufactured with low transient resistance through the enamel coating the driver, and is the type of cable high added value precision and skill required in their development and production.
