Taihan Showcases Turnkey Competencies at the Offshore Wind Supply Chain Conference & Exhibition

Taihan has demonstrated its advanced submarine cable capabilities at Korea’s largest offshore wind exhibition.
On June 18, Taihan announced its successful
participation in the '2026 Offshore Wind Supply Chain Conference &
Exhibition,' held from June 16 to 17 at the Yeosu Expo Convention Center in
Yeosu, Korea. During the event, the company showcased its strategic advantages
in the offshore wind and high-voltage direct current (HVDC) sectors, while
exploring opportunities for business cooperation with domestic and
international industry stakeholders.
Jointly hosted by the Korea Wind Energy
Industry Association and Jeollanam-do, and supported by the Ministry of
Climate, Energy and Environment and the Korea Energy Agency, the event serves
as Korea’s premier platform for offshore wind energy. It brings together
industry experts to share policy updates and market trends, and discuss
collaboration strategies. Over 70 domestic and international institutions and
enterprises participated to display offshore wind supply chain technologies and
services, alongside a series of conferences and seminars focused on supply
chain enhancement and market forecasts.
At the exhibition, Taihan presented a
comprehensive suite of submarine cable solutions. The company’s booth featured
core products, including 154kV submarine cables and dynamic cables. It also
drew significant industry attention by unveiling its 525kV HVDC submarine
cables, designed to address domestic and global HVDC markets, including major
initiatives such as the West Coast Energy Highway project.
Taihan highlighted its robust manufacturing
infrastructure, detailing Submarine Cable Plant 1, which is currently
operational, and Plant 2, which is under construction. This comprehensive
production system is capable of supplying inter-array cables, export cables, interconnections,
and HVDC submarine cables. Notably, Submarine Cable Plant 2 will be capable of
manufacturing HVDC submarine cables up to 640kV and will be equipped with
state-of-the-art facilities, including a 187-meter Vertical Continuous
Vulcanization (VCV) tower—the tallest of its kind in Korea.
Furthermore, the company emphasized its
offshore installation capabilities. Following the acquisition of 'PALOS,'
Korea’s only specialized Cable Laying Vessel (CLV) in December 2023, Taihan
recently secured the 10,000-ton-class 'Scandi Connector.' This expansion
completes a specialized CLV fleet capable of executing full-scope submarine
cable installation projects.
"As the offshore wind market continues to expand, the strategic importance of submarine cables has never been greater," a Taihan official stated. "Leveraging our turnkey competencies that integrate production and installation, we will continuously expand our business footprint not only in domestic offshore wind and large-scale grid projects like the West Coast Energy Highway, but also across the global energy infrastructure market."
