Taihan Accelerates Entry into U.S. Offshore Wind Power Market, Showcases Turnkey Submarine Cable Capabilities at IPF25

- Participated in IPF25, North America’s largest offshore wind and marine renewable energy event

- Emphasized turnkey competitiveness with submarine cable manufacturing plants and Korea’s only cable laying vessel

- Unveiled prototype of 525kV HVDC submarine cable under development

Taihan is accelerating its expansion into the U.S. offshore wind market, leveraging its recognized competitiveness in the region.

The company participated in the International Partnering Forum (IPF) 2025, held from April 28 to May 1 at the Virginia Beach Convention Center in Virginia, USA.

Hosted by the Oceantic Network, IPF is North America’s largest offshore wind power and marine renewable energy conference. The event brings together U.S. federal and state government officials, major European countries including the Netherlands, Norway, and Poland, as well as global offshore wind developers and equipment suppliers. It serves as a key platform for sharing the latest technologies, market trends, and research developments in offshore wind energy.

Under the theme “Connecting the Future from the Seamarine,” Taihan highlighted its turnkey competitiveness in submarine cable systems. The company introduced its first submarine cable plant in Dangjin, set for full completion in the first half of this year, and its second plant, recently confirmed for construction at the Godae Pier site in Dangjin. These facilities underscore Taihan’s growing production capacity and commitment to supply chain resilience.

Taihan also exhibited a model of Palos, Korea’s only dedicated Cable Laying Vessel (CLV) for offshore wind power projects, demonstrating its ability to provide comprehensive end-to-end solutions—from submarine cable design and production to transport, installation, and maintenance.

A major highlight of the exhibition was the first public display of Taihan’s 525kV HVDC submarine cable prototype currently under development. The company plans to begin production of the HVDC submarine cable systems at its second plant in 2027, targeting offshore wind projects in North America and other global markets.

In addition, Taihan presented its extensive track record of supplying submarine cables to major domestic and international projects since 2009, further underscoring its differentiated technological expertise and proven reliability.

A Taihan official stated, “North America is one of the most active and promising regions for submarine cable projects. Through IPF25, we are actively promoting Taihan’s turnkey capabilities to global offshore wind developers and reinforcing our presence in the market.”

They added, “We remain committed to advancing our investment and development plans, not only to strengthen the domestic offshore wind supply chain, but also to enhance Korea’s export competitiveness on the global stage.”
