Dangjin chosen for Taihan’s new submarine cable plant, soon to begin construction in earnest

Taihan has confirmed a site for its new submarine cable plant - the Godae District at the Asan National Industrial Complex in Dangjin-si, Chungcheongnam-do.

Dangjin, Chungcheongnam-do, is already home to Taihan’s Dangjin plant, the company’s main production hub, and was considered the most likely candidate for its new factory since early on in the site selection process. It offered the advantage of being able to access the human and physical resources and infrastructure already available at the company’s existing production facilities while building, managing, and operating the new factory.

With a sizable investment, Taihan plans to build a factory capable of producing 66kV internal network cables and 154kV external network cables by 2023. Thereafter, the company will look to gradually expand its product lineup to 345kV external network submarine cables and HVDC (EHV direct current transmission) submarine cables, and also secure the appropriate construction capacity. By doing so, Taihan will focus its capabilities to establish itself as a company specializing in offshore wind power solutions.
