Taihan secures the main project contract for the southwest sea offshore wind power project

Taihan secures the main project contract for the southwest sea offshore wind power project

Following its successful bid for the research and development (R&D) project of the Southwest Sea Offshore Wind Power project, Taihan secured a contract for the internal network of the test site’s main project contract as well, giving the company great momentum for its underwater distribution cable business.

Taihan announced that a consortium led by Taihan won the project contract for the Southwest Sea Offshore Wind Power test site. Worth approximately KRW 10 billion, the project involves building an internal network that connects 12 offshore wind turbines and the offshore power generation center. Taihan specializes in the installation of 22.9 kV optical power hybrid underground distribution cables.

This test site development project constitutes the first phase of the “Southwest Sea Offshore Wind Power Development Project,” the largest offshore wind power project in Korea, led by the government. Last year, an advance R&D project to build three wind turbines was carried out for the project. Taihan landed the contract to install underwater cables for the internal network for that project as well, and its success in stably rendering products and services helped kick the entire project into gear.
