An affiliate, Taihan Fiberoptics Co., Ltd., earning surprises for the first half of the year

- Sales for the first half of the year sharply increased two times, and operating profits increased 5 times on a year-on-year basis

- Increase of sales and profitability due to increase of global demand for fiber-optic communication cables in South America, India, and China.

Taihan Fiberoptics Co., Ltd. which is a company that is part of the Taihan Electric Wire Co. Ltd. group which specializes in fiber-optic communication cables

recorded earning surprises as sales for the first half of the year doubled on a year-on-year basis, and operating profit sharply increased 5 times. According to

the public disclosure of report on Taihan Fiberoptics Co., Ltd. on the 14th of the month, sales for the first half of the year were KRW 60.8 billion and increased

by 108% in comparison with KRW 29.3 billion for a corresponding period last year, and operating profits sharply increased by a whopping 404% from KRW 1.5

billion to KRW 7.6 billion.

The reason is that gross sales grew and profitability improved in the fiber-optic cable business that Taihan Fiberoptics Co., Ltd. newly entered, as it changed its

company name to Taihan Fiberoptics Co., Ltd. and built an integrated system from optical fiber production to the fiber-optic communication cable business.

Especially, global demand for fiber-optic communication cables is increasing in South America, India, and China, and continuously increases the selling price of

optical fiber and exports to the Americas such as the U.S. and South America were also helpful.

Taihan Fiberoptics Co., Ltd. officials said, “It was predicted that business performance has more improved in the future because global demand for optical fiber

and fiber-optic cables was shown to increase, and it is planned to finish its restructuring division where business performance is not sufficient, within the year.”
