Development of Customer-Tailored RF Cables

This project was about the improvement of the specifications of the radio signal cables for the railway tunnels ordered by the Paris Transport Authority (RATP : Régie Autonome des Transports Parisiens). At that time, Paris was thoroughly managing the amount, density, toxic components, etc. of smoke generated when cables used in railways were burned, and it became necessary to develop a new cable as a regulation to control the degree of sparks falling from cables was put in place to prevent the fire from spreading.

In order to respond timely to the updated regulations, Taihan developed a cable with enhanced flame retardancy to the existing leaky coaxial cable. As a fruit of continuous research and efforts, including design changes and jacket material (compound) improvement, Taihan succeeded in developing high-specification products and successfully completed trial supplies.

Acquired the Highest Level of Safety Certification for the First Time in the World

This project obtained the “B2ca s1a d0 a1”, the highest level of safety certification from Construction Products Regulation Certification (CPR CE), a European construction material regulation. In particular, for “d0 Level”, Taihan’s RF cable was the first in the world to obtain certification among products with the same specifications, which widely promoted the Taihan’s technological prowess and quality in Europe. Based on this, Taihan laid the groundwork to solidify its position to lead the European railway market, and has been steadily building up the performance through registration as one of the major suppliers to the RATP which has a major position in the European railway market.
