Taihan (CEO Song Jong-min) announced on September 15 that it will participate in the '2026 World Climate Industry EXPO', held from September 16 to 18 at BEXCO in Busan.
Under the theme 'From the West Coast to the World, Taihan Connects New Energy Highways,' Taihan is presenting a wide range of core technologies for power infrastructure. The company has set up a 30-booth, 270-square-meter exhibition space featuring turnkey submarine cable solutions, HVDC solutions, and busduct solutions, highlighting its technologies and business capabilities to address the evolving power infrastructure market.
In particular, Taihan is emphasizing its commitment and vision for participating in the 'West Coast Energy Highway' by screening large-scale visual content and displaying key messages at the front of its booth. The company is also placing its Korea’s only CLV fleet and submarine cable products at the forefront of the exhibition to demonstrate its turnkey capabilities for large-scale submarine power transmission projects.
In the submarine cable-themed area, Taihan is highlighting its installation capabilities through models of the Skandi Connector and PALOS. The model of the Skandi Connector is being unveiled to the public for the first time at this exhibition. The 11,000-ton-class Skandi Connector is Korea’s largest CLV and is capable of handling a wide range of projects, including offshore wind inter-array and export cable installations, long-distance grid interconnections, and HVDC submarine cable installation. Together with PALOS, the vessel is being deployed on offshore wind projects in Korea, further strengthening Taihan’s submarine cable installation capabilities.
Taihan is also showcasing key products, including inter-array submarine cables supplied to the Yeonggwang Nakwol Offshore Wind Farm, 525kV-class HVDC submarine cables, and dynamic submarine cables for floating offshore wind farms. The company is highlighting its business capabilities by presenting major project achievements, including the Yeonggwang Nakwol offshore wind project and the Sinan Bigeum solar power grid interconnection project.
Taihan is also providing information on its submarine cable production infrastructure. The company is introducing Submarine Cable Plant 1, which is currently in operation, and Submarine Cable Plant 2, which is under construction with commercial operation targeted for 2027. Plant 2 is being established as a specialized production facility capable of manufacturing 640kV-class HVDC and 400kV-class HVAC submarine cables.
In the busduct solutions section, Taihan is showcasing epoxy-insulated and PET-insulated busducts, including epoxy-insulated products manufactured using newly introduced equipment, to highlight its diversified product portfolio and market responsiveness. To meet growing demand for busduct solutions, Taihan expanded the size of its busduct plant threefold last year and has continued to invest in additional equipment.
Vice Chairman Song Jong-min will attend the opening ceremony and visit the exhibition afterward, where he plans to discuss business cooperation opportunities with customers and key stakeholders together with Executive Vice President Lee Choon-won, Head of the Submarine Business Division, and Executive Vice President Baek Seung-ho, Head of the Industry Division.
A Taihan Cable & Solution representative said, “This exhibition provides an opportunity to identify the rapidly changing trends in the power infrastructure market driven by the expansion of renewable energy and AI.” The representative added, “Through continued investment and technological advancement, Taihan will contribute to stabilizing Korea’s power supply infrastructure and strengthen its competitiveness in submarine cables, HVDC, busducts, and other businesses to proactively respond to growing global demand for power.”
Meanwhile, the World Climate Industry EXPO is Korea’s largest climate and energy event, bringing together the latest technologies and industry trends related to the climate industry. This year’s event is jointly hosted by the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment, the International Energy Agency (IEA), the World Bank (WB), the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), and the Busan Metropolitan Government. The theme of this year’s exhibition is “Climate Tech: The Great Transformation Toward a Decarbonized World.”
