Taihan Showcases HVDC Competitiveness at CIGRE, Accelerating Expansion in the European Energy Infrastructure Market 

- Highlights turnkey capabilities by introducing Submarine Cable Plants 1 and 2, along with Korea's only Cable Laying Vessel (CLV) fleet.

- Showcases Korea's first domestically developed HVDC cable systems, demonstrating long-distance, high-capacity power transmission technology.

Taihan showcased its technological capabilities in submarine and underground cable systems at the world's premier power grid exhibition.

Taihan announced on August 25 that it is participating in 'CIGRE 2026,' held in Paris, France, from August 23 to 28.

Under the theme "Connecting the Future of Power through Technology," Taihan presented strategic products encompassing both underground and submarine sectors. The exhibition was categorized into three core areas: turnkey submarine cable solutions, HVDC and extra-high-voltage (EHV) cable systems, and global networks.

Notably, Taihan positioned its turnkey submarine cable solutions at the forefront of the booth to underscore its comprehensive value chain capabilities—spanning design, manufacturing, transportation, installation, and maintenance. The company introduced its production infrastructure, including the fully operational Submarine Cable Plant 1 and the upcoming Submarine Cable Plant 2, which will be capable of producing 640kV HVDC and 400kV HVAC submarine cables. Detailed specifications were also provided regarding Korea's only CLV fleet, comprising the Skandi Connector and PALOS.

Furthermore, Taihan highlighted its technological prowess in long-distance, high-capacity power transmission by exhibiting Korea's first 500kV LCC (Line Commutated Converter) HVDC cable system and the 525kV VSC (Voltage Source Converter) HVDC onshore cable system. The company also demonstrated its robust R&D and testing infrastructure by introducing the HVDC Test Center, engineered to simultaneously test two circuits of 640kV-class onshore and submarine HVDC cables.

In addition, Taihan presented major EHV cable projects executed across key global markets—including Europe, North America, the Middle East, and Asia—along with its principal clients, reinforcing its proven business track record and project execution capabilities in the global power grid market.

Established in 1921, CIGRE is an international organization dedicated to sharing the latest technologies and research achievements in the power transmission and distribution sector, holding its technical conferences and exhibitions biennially. Comprising members from approximately 100 countries, more than 1,200 organizations, and over 15,000 industry experts, it is widely regarded as a definitive event for identifying technological trajectories and market trends within the global power industry.

Taihan's delegation to the exhibition included Vice Chairman and CEO Jong Min Song; Chun Won Lee, Executive Vice President and Head of the Submarine Cable Business Division; Jung Se Nam, Senior Vice President and Head of the Overseas Energy Business Division; alongside the heads of Taihan's European and U.S. subsidiaries. The delegation engaged with representatives from major European Transmission System Operators (TSOs) and clients to discuss ongoing projects and frameworks for future cooperation.
