Taihan Posts Record Quarterly Revenue and Operating Profit in Q2, Backlog Surpasses KRW 4 Trillion for the First Time
- Revenue reaches KRW 1.1987 trillion and operating profit KRW 60.8 billion, up 30.8% and 113.0% year-on-year, respectively
- First-half operating profit reaches KRW 121.3 billion, exceeding 94% of full-year 2025 operating profit
- Revenue remains above KRW 1 trillion for three consecutive quarters, driven by growth in extra-high-voltage and submarine cable businesses
Taihan has achieved record quarterly results, driven by its competitiveness in the extra-high-voltage (EHV) and submarine cable businesses and its expanding global operations.
On July 30, Taihan announced its preliminary consolidated results for the second quarter, reporting revenue of KRW 1.1987 trillion and operating profit of KRW 60.8 billion. Compared with the same period last year, revenue increased by 30.8% from KRW 916.4 billion, while operating profit rose by 113.0% from KRW 28.6 billion.
Both revenue and operating profit reached all-time quarterly highs, demonstrating the company's strong growth and profitability. Revenue has remained above KRW 1 trillion for three consecutive quarters, reflecting sustained business momentum.
For the first half of the year, cumulative revenue totaled KRW 2.2820 trillion and operating profit reached KRW 121.3 billion. This represents increases of 28.8% and 117.8%, respectively, compared with revenue of KRW 1.7718 trillion and operating profit of KRW 55.7 billion recorded in the first half of the previous year. First-half operating profit already exceeded 94% of the company's full-year 2025 operating profit.
The strong performance was driven primarily by the EHV and submarine cable businesses. Growth was supported by expanding projects in overseas markets, including North America and Singapore, as well as major domestic power grid projects.
Order intake continued to grow steadily. New orders received during the second quarter amounted to KRW 727.2 billion, while the order backlog reached KRW 4.0629 trillion as of the end of the quarter, surpassing KRW 4 trillion for the first time in the company's history. The increase reflects rising demand for EHV cables amid expanding global power grid investments and the company's strengthened competitiveness in international markets. The growing backlog also provides a solid foundation for future revenue growth.
Taihan also highlighted its recent award of the 500kV HVDC Donghaean–Dongseoul Transmission Line Construction Project, one of Korea's key national power grid initiatives. The project demonstrates the company's capabilities across the HVDC value chain, spanning design, manufacturing, testing, and installation. Building on this achievement, Taihan plans to expand its participation in major domestic transmission projects and accelerate its entry into overseas HVDC markets.
The company also showcased its turnkey submarine cable capabilities. Taihan recently secured the Skandi Connector, an 11,000-ton cable-laying vessel (CLV), adding to its existing CLV PALOS and establishing Korea's only dedicated CLV fleet. The addition strengthens the company's turnkey submarine cable capabilities and project execution capacity for domestic and international projects.
A company official stated, "Growth in the extra-high-voltage and submarine cable markets is accelerating as AI data centers expand and power grid investments increase worldwide. Leveraging our expanded order backlog, we will continue delivering stable growth while further strengthening our position in the global market through high-value-added businesses such as HVDC and submarine cables."
